SOFT FOCUS: William Russell Young, III

Founder and Managing Director of the Appalachian Center for Photography, William Russell Young, III holds a Doctorate from Saint Andrews University in Scotland and a Master’s degree in photography from The University of Texas. He is also the author of “The Soft-Focus Lens and Anglo-American Pictorialism”. A gifted artist, educator, curator and scholar, Young curated an exhibition at this museum in 2004 documenting the Art of the American Frontier. His works are included in many museum collections including the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art.

PHOTOGRAPHY MASTERS

A wide variety of photography techniques are presented in five concurrent exhibitions showcasing the works of some of the region’s most accomplished photographers. Featured are Wendell Thompson, Owensboro, C. J. Pressma, Carlos DeFrancisco, and Ted Wathen, Louisville, and Fred Reaves, Hazel.
