A collaboration of artists, “nonartists”, musicians and patrons of the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art Foundation will present ART BY THE STARS, a gala benefit for the museum, Saturday, September 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The evening will feature an exhibition and auction of works of art by a roster of “nonartists” known as STARS, made up of community business leaders, educators and elected officials. The STARS have created their works of art with the help of some of Owensboro’s most outstanding artists.
A highlight of this unique visual event will be an opportunity to win a ladies gold and diamond bracelet appraised at $3,400, a door prize for attendees. The evening will culminate with the drawing for the diamond bracelet which came from the estate of Mary Bryan Hood. The door prize will be awarded at 7:00 p.m. and the winner must be present to win.
The gala will include a catered cocktail buffet and open bar. Tickets are $50 per person discounted to $40 per person for subscribers to the OMFA FRIENDS OF THE FOUNDATION and may be purchased by calling or emailing the museum at 270-685-3181 or [email protected].
The event will feature an auction works of art created by Kentucky Representative D. J. Johnson; Daviess County Commissioner Chris Castlen; Philanthropist Kate Burton; Owensboro Museum of Science and History Director Isaac Settle; Realtor Tyler Shookman; Theatre Workshop of Owensboro Director, Cali Whitmore; Annie McCreary, owner of Pure Barre; and Dr. James Cousins, President of Kentucky Wesleyan College.
The STARS were mentored in creating two and three-dimensional works of art by prominent Owensboro artists Alice Elkins, Sarah Higdon, Heather Logsdon, Katie Lowing, Rex Robinson, Abbi Rupert, Dale Taylor and James Taylor. Conducting the auction will be Kelsey Edge of Kurtz Auction & Realty.
A feature of the evening will be a silent auction of prints, paintings, and other objet d’arts scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
