A FREE interdisciplinary art studio for ages 4 to 12, ArtLand is designed to stimulate children’s imaginations while allowing them to create works of art at their own pace. The program’s purpose is to provide learning experiences in the arts to the region’s children.
Instruction is provided by staff, local and visiting artists, and art majors from four area colleges. ArtLand features a fully equipped art laboratory with brightly painted murals depicting figures in art history. The studio is entered through a miniature theatre where the audience may participate in performing arts productions by operating onstage marionettes from ceiling mounted pulleys. Each month ArtLand offers art instruction on a project designed to be relevant to current museum exhibitions or seasonal and regional events.
