Art of the American Frontier

Organized for the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art by guest curator William Russell Young, III, the exhibition was offered as a part of the community’s contribution to the Kentucky Lewis and Clark Bicentennial and celebrated the historical expedition of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. It explored a panorama of subjects, styles, media and techniques utilized by early explorers/artists who created functional and decorative art necessary for life on the frontier, comparing it with the works of contemporary artist/adventurers who have sustained and refined this tradition.
