ART OF AFRICA: Before it was Art it was Life

This exhibition of 90 three-dimensional forms presented a survey of 19th and 20th century ceremonial and utilitarian objects reflecting the African artisans’ sensitivities to both aesthetics and function. Among the rich and varied examples documenting tribal traditions included in the exhibition are masks, textiles, furniture, baskets, utensils, fetish figures and carved staffs.
